Is Business Administration A Dead End Degree?
I’ve bounced around from major to major for many different reasons including potential income, difficulty of course work, stress, time, and whether or not I’ll enjoy my job.
I’ve now been considering business managment as a college major.. my question to you is:
Is this a dead end degree? My ideal of something that isn’t dead end is a job where I could travel a good amount to great locations, and generally not want to quit after the first month of working there. Something that is stable, financially secure, and generally has some hands on work to it. Something that will allow me to meet new, friendly people, learn about others as well as myself, a job I can look foward to going to.. meaning I would have no problem coming in an hour early and have absolutely no problem staying an hour or two late..
Now I’m well aware that not all jobs are like this, especially entry level jobs.. I’ve learned that life doesn’t hand this sort of oppurunity at first hand, and they will have to worked for. But does earning a degree in business administration offer this? Or is it all office work?
Non ideal job: sit infront of a computer ALL day, with monotone bosses, and depressed/stressed co-workers, in a cubicle 9-5..
Those of you with business degrees, can you truthfully say that you enjoy your current job? Do you think you made a good decision and a great investment? Or do you regret it? Please do not be afraid to tell the truth. It’s better I find out now than later.
I’m also aware that business is a very wide field which is the exact reason I’m asking this question.
10 points to the most informative answer, although that shouldn’t be the motive behind providing one
Thanks!

If you want to go for a doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.), consider psychology. You will deal with people and not sit at a computer. You can have your own private practice.
If you don’t want that much grad school, consider high school teaching of your favorite high school subject. You will deal with people and have great hours as well as long summer vacations. With seniority in a high-paying district, you can make a good living, especially when you consider the retirement benefits.

I have to agree that I hate sitting at the computer jobs too. I am currently a GD major and it drives me nuts because I used to sit at computer about 20 hrs a day and sleep for 4 hrs. I am changing my major as well.
